I. Objectives and duration of schooling
Master Program
Sticking to the Four Cardinal Principles, and the reform and opening-up policy, this major cultivates professional talents who can develop their moral, intellectual and physical abilities at the same time; who can obey laws; who are of morality, and who can develop a good foundation of economic theory and systematic expertise in economics, a foreign language, modern economic analysis, and computer application skills. Graduates from this major can engage in teaching and research work in the field of economics, management work in the government, or practical work in the business departments.
A flexible schooling system from two to three years is adopted; therefore the postgraduate students who can gain all the required credits, be up to standard in results, and complete the defense of the thesis can finish their Master’s Degree in two years or two and a half years.
Doctoral Program
The education of this major sticks to the Four Cardinal Principles, and presses ahead with reform and opening-up to develop students morally, intellectually and physically, who can obey laws and have good moral character and academic ethics. Students will be able to attain a profound foundation of economic theories and systematical expertise of economics, some modern economic analyzing methods, some skills of computer application and get familiar with academic regulations and advanced theory research, and be able to undertake independent scientific research. Graduates from this major can engage in teaching and researching work in the field of economics and management in the governments or practical work in the business departments.
The duration of schooling is three years generally, or four years specially for in-service doctoral postgraduates in Beijing who accept directed education or contractual programs, or five years for the students who accept a continuous academic project that involves postgraduate and doctoral study or those who are enrolled as Ph D candidates directly from undergraduate programs.
