1.Objectives and duration of schooling

1). Master Program

The education of this major aims to cultivate students who stick to the Four Cardinal Principles, obey laws, and act in right ways and have a sense of social responsibility. Students will be able to master a foreign language, have a good command of modern economics and professional knowledge of economics, logical thinking ability, and the ability to analyze problems. They will gradually get familiar with analytical tools and academic research principles of economics with the potential of doing further research and gain professional knowledge for practical work. Graduates from this major can do teaching and research work in the field of economics, management work in the government, and practical work in the departments of practical business.

A flexible schooling system from two to three years is adopted; therefore the postgraduate students who study for two years and can gain all the required credits, be up to standard in results, and complete the defense of the thesis can be conferred a Master Degree.

2).Doctoral Program

The education of this major is designed to train students who stick to the Four Cardinal Principles, have good moral character, academic ethics, social responsibility and mission. Students will be able to attain a good foundation of economic theories and systematical expertise in economics, know some modern economic analyzing methods and some skills of computer application, and become familiar with academic regulations and advanced theory research. They can be competent to explore related field and have creative achievement. Graduates from this major can do the related academic research and teach independently.

The duration of schooling is three years generally, four years for in-service doctoral postgraduates in Beijing who accept directed education or contractual programs, or five years for the students who accept a continuous academic project that involves postgraduate and doctoral study or those who are enrolled as PhD candidates directly from undergraduate programs.
